FM Abdel Ati ensures Egypt's full solidarity with Lebanon


CAIRO - 30 July 2024: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affair Badr Abdel Aati held two phone calls on Monday with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib. Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department, stated that Minister Abdel Aati expressed during the two calls Egypt's full solidarity with the sisterly state of Lebanon, its rejection of any threats aimed at destabilizing Lebanon or the safety of its people. Minister Abdel Aati also expressed Egypt's deep concern over the ongoing escalation between Hezbollah and Israel, and its potential impact on Lebanon's security and stability. The official spokesman added that the Lebanese officials expressed during the two calls their deep appreciation for the support and solidarity of sisterly Egypt, its leadership and people, with Lebanon in these critical circumstances, and their confidence that Egyptian moves aim to protect the interests of the Lebanese people and the stability of their country. It was agreed that they will continue consultations during the next stage with the aim of coordinating efforts to contain tension and escalation.
