Photo: PTIKolkata: With chief minister Mamata Banerjee ordering a probe into the Narada tapes case, police have registered a first information report (FIR) against Narada News chief executive Mathew Samuel on a complaint filed by city mayor and fire and emergency services minister Sovan Chattopadhyay’s wife. Banerjee on 17 June ordered a probe by Kolkata Police into the tapes, saying her party had not taken “a single penny” from anyone in the Saradha chit fund scam and as purportedly shown in the Narada tapes. The Narada tapes, which surfaced when the state was at the threshold of the assembly elections, purportedly showed several Trinamool Congress leaders and an Indian Police Service officer accepting money for consideration.
