FIA officials booked for fake-hiring scandal


ISLAMABAD: At least two officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) responsible for investigating criminals and fraudsters have themselves been found involved in criminal activities by taking bribes for fake-hirings in the department, Pakistan Today learnt on Sunday. The illegal activity, including fake tests and interviews, was carried out at the FIA’s headquarters. A case under sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 409, 109 r/w 5(2) of the Prevention Of Corruption Act (PCA), 1947 has been registered by FIA’s Anti-Corruption Cell against the accused persons. According to the first information report (FIR), available with Pakistan Today, the case was registered following a complaint received from the Prime Minister Delivery Unit (PMDU). Moreover, the FIR mentioned that Complaint Cell Assistant Mehmood Ahmed provided his office to be used for the fraudulent activity and Syed Farooq used forged official stamps and signatures for making fake documents.
