KUALA LUMPUR: FGV Holdings Bhd (FGV) is exploring a venture into the paper pulp market, using palm oil wastes. FGV, he said, produces about 3.47 million tonnes of empty fruit bunches (EFB)per year from its 68 mills nationwide. “This green project also aligns with our waste to wealth initiative in order to ensure the operations are more sustainable,” he said. Azhar added that via the MoU, FGV was hoping to integrate the operations of its existing mills with CMEC’s engineering expertise, in order to set up paper pulp production facilities with an initial capacity of 50,000 MT per annum for the first phase. He said the group could also leverage on CMEC’s extensive engineering and domestic knowledge on China’s pulp market.
