FG moves to combat food shortages using ATASP-1

The Federal government has emphasized that increased agricultural production cannot be achieved without guaranteed access to quality agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and collective collaboration of all stakeholders. The primary objective of NAGS-AP is to improve the production and productivity of staple food crops to mitigate the food insecurity situation in the nation. NAGS-AP is being implemented through the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase One (ATASP-1) funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB). The program has witnessed increased yield for cassava, rice, and sorghum, leading to substantial additions to the national food basket and increased revenue. Agriculture has always been the backbone of the nation’s economy, providing food security, employment, and livelihoods to millions of people.
