MANILA, Philippines — FC Meralco Manila assured itself of a Top 2 seeding in the Philippine Football League playoffs after posting a 1-0 win over luckless JPV Marikina at Rizal Memorial Stadium Tuesday night. The Sparks couldn’t convert their scoring opportunities but caught a big break in the 56th when Marikina yielded an own goal. Manila’s Tahj Minniecon launched a cross and the ball bounced off the leg of Marikina sub Mahmoud Ali and into its own net, eventually allowing the Sparks to net maximum points.
