The Qatari authorities announced on Friday that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is to help Qatar investigate the source of the alleged cyberattack that has led to diplomatic tensions between Qatar and other Arab Gulf countries, according to the Qatari TV station Al-Jazeera. The Qatari government declared that two other unnamed countries are also helping in the investigation, which is proposed to be released as early as next week, the Qatari station stated. Qatar had accused hackers of publishing false remarks attributed to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on QNA platforms, describing Iran as a “major force to ensure stability in the region” and defending Hamas and Hezbollah. Furthermore, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has visited Kuwait on Wednesday to hold discussions with the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Kuwait is believed to be able to play an important role in ending the latest tensions between Qatar and other Gulf countries as it did previously in 2014.
