New goalkeeper Jack Campbell may be just what the Maple Leafs need. But, through the wonder of analytics, a couple of deeper stats might provide a better idea of how he’ll fare. Campbell’s figure this season was a dreadful 74.1%, worse than even Michael Hutchinson’s 78.8. The real test will be the ‘eye’ version, particularly how many games the Leafs win with Campbell in net. That could happen in L.A., and it wouldn’t be the first time a player has blossomed under such circumstances.
