The FA are facing questions over the limited details about child abuse in grassroots football in the Sheldon report, which largely focuses on incidents and individuals in the professional game. Operation Hydrant, the specialist police unit investigating historic abuse cases, has received more than 1,400 referrals relating to allegations involving more than 300 clubs. 'For abuse cases in grassroots football, which make up 75 per cent of the total, there are several questions for the FA to answer,' said Dino Nocivelli, a lawyer specialising in abuse cases at Bolt, Burdon, Kemp. 'Every abuse survivor matters and deserves to be heard, whether they were amateur or professional. 'The FA are responsible for all of football in this country, so this seems like an odd omission.'
