FA of Sarawak deny any cover up

KUCHING: The FA of Sarawak (FAS) have denied that the alleged match-fixing issue that surfaced recently is being covered up to hide the management weaknesses of the state football association. FAS president, Datuk Posa Majais said that such accusations are baseless because the report lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is based on information received by the state football association. "I do not have any personal agenda behind my actions, because Sarawak football will end up being the victim, on the losing end if I were to take the easy way out and just forget about it. Before this, the Sarawak football arena was shocked by news that two players along with another individual suspected of being a ‘bookie’ were hauled up by MACC for suspected involvement in match-fixing activities, namely for the match against Felcra United which Sarawak lost 3-2 last month. The players, aged 28 and 29 respectively, were remanded for six days to facilitate investigations, before being released by the Kuching Magistrate Court of match-fixing charges.
