Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen's recent stop at a bakery café in Los Angeles earlier this month has led to a bitter aftertaste on both sides of the Straits. China considers self-ruled Taiwan a part of its territory that will eventually be reunified with the mainland. “It is a kind of reality that Taiwan companies have to face so far,” says Wu Chung-li, political science research fellow, Academia Sinica. The company's revenue came in at $757 million in the same period, with about two-thirds of sales coming from China. "If China doesn’t give it any more pressure, then it can get over this difficulty," Liang says.
