Extreme weather events remind us how vulnerable we are. Last year the Government committed $210 million from the Covid-19 Response and Recovery Fund to climate resilience and flood protection. The West Coast is vulnerable to extreme weather events, too. We’re also backing a flood protection scheme for the Waiho River near Franz Josef. The Government is already investing in major infrastructure upgrades so communities can withstand the effects of extreme weather events.
