The first proposal that has concerned the exporters was increasing the retirement age both for the public and private sectors to 60 years. Marikkar stated that the private sector retirement age was 55 years for males and it was a few years less than that for females. “Increasing the retirement age to 60 years for the private sector is definitely going to bring down the private sector’s productivity and efficiency. We are worried about this proposal,” Marikkar stated. Taxing those who export to well-established markets just to create another insurance premium is an additional burden on exporters,” Marikkar stated.
