According to the police, gelatin sticks were being illegally used to break rocks at a 100 X 100 ft site without obtaining the mandatory permissions. During the operation, the police seized 15 gelatin sticks and 30 detonators and explosive material from the site. Police said that the daily wage labourers working at the site fled the area as soon as the police arrived. A case has been registered at the Hulimavu police station against site owner Chandru for illegally storing and using explosives. Police officials stated that strict legal action would be initiated against those responsible for using dangerous explosives in a crowded area without permission or safety measures.
