The Assam Accord was signed in 1985 among the Rajiv Gandhi government, the Assam government, and leaders of the Assam Accord. While this is limited to the purpose of implementing a provision of the 1985 Assam Accord — Clause 6 — it spotlights the complexities at play in Assam.
