Bihar’s ruling ‘Grand Alliance’ turned more brittle on Friday as JD(U) demanded deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav’s resignation if his family could not come clean on the source of funds used for acquiring allegedly illegal properties. The JD(U)’s demand, dismissed by RJD chief Lalu Yadav, came despite attempts by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to broker truce among the allies. Congress president Sonia Gandhi talked to both chief minister Nitish Kumar and Lalu to find a middle path to diffuse the crisis and despatched state chief Ashok Choudhary to play mediator. The JD(U) holds that the Tejashwi issue did not remain an RJD issue alone since he was the No. RJD leaders said while resignation by Tejashwi could be a possibility, it may not be immediate.
