Expert warns of environmental transmission of Covid

Leo Poon Lit-man from the HKU’s school of public health said the coronavirus could remain infectious at room temperature on various surfaces, reminding citizens to stay vigilant. A health expert said in an online conference today that except for infections through close contact and droplets, the coronavirus can be transmitted through contaminated surfaces, warning citizens to stay vigilant. Leo Poon Lit-man from the HKU’s school of public health said the coronavirus can be highly stable in a favorable environment, and could remain infectious at room temperature on various surfaces. He stressed that the virus is highly transmittable under environments of low temperature and low humidity, but it could still pose a threat to individuals in warm areas. People should also make use of household disinfectants and bleach to clean their homes,” Poon added.
