THE President of Otorhinolaryngological Society of Nigeria, Dr. Biodun Olusesi, has urged the federal and state governments to subsidise cochlear implantation in the country. He noted that the cost of cochlear implantation could be reduced if the government decided to waive customs duty on importation of the medical device or gives subsidy on the treatment as done in some countries. They are the ones that can be helped by the Cochlear implantation. “So where the limit of hearing aid stops, that is where the Cochlear implantation begins. So cochlear implantation is not meant for everybody.
