Good morning. Talks between the US and China about resolving their trade war will resume today, but hopes of a deal are already fading. Asian markets were volatile overnight after a report from the South China Morning Post that Liu He, China’s vice-premier and top trade negotiator, could be on a plane out of Washington as early as this evening because of expectations that there will be little progress in the talks. The leading Asian equity markets, such as the Hang Seng in Hong Kong, fell in early trading before gradually recovering their losses through the day.
