Dry weather is expected to linger into the spring, with below average precipitation forecast across much of the West. The spring drought outlook predicts the drought to persist across much of the West with an expansion into parts of the Plains and the Florida Peninsula. Snow drought conditions remain focused over the southwestern US, especially across the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains. Above average temperatures are forecast for most of the contiguous US this spring (April through June), according to NOAA. The greatest chance for above average temperatures is across the interior Southwest, which is also dealing with exceptional drought conditions.
