Expect 18 new floats at Sunday's Santa Claus Parade

Santa Claus Paradegoers can expect 18 new floats this year — including one from Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada and another that will celebrate Canada’s athletes competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The 113th parade will have 28 floats in total and it will begin on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Christie Pits Park and wrap up outside the St. Lawrence Market around 3 p.m. The parade also has a new logo this year with its official name “The Original Santa Claus Parade” to celebrate the parade being the first in Canada. The parade, which has about 3,000 volunteers helping out each year, will also have 21 marching bands and floats featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors. Motorists in the area can expect delays and they are encouraged to avoid the parade route.
