NZ came out well when expats in 68 countries were asked about the quality of their digital environment. New Zealand's "digital life" has been ranked the fifth best by expats in 68 countries. Ninety-one per cent said online government services were good, compared to the average of 55 per cent in other countries. That is despite gigabit fibre-optic internet services being available in all major cities where expats are most likely to live. But the average home subscribed to 4.6 telecommunications services and the ministry's survey did not appear to take that into account, he said.
