To mark the 250th anniversary of the book, ‘Heer Waris Shah’ (1766), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, is set to host a week-long exhibition, Waris Shah the Heer, from October 20 to 27. The department of history and department of ancient Indian history, culture and archaeology (AIHC&A) are organising the exhibition at the museum of AIHC&A in PU. Prof Sukhmani Bal Riar is the organising chairperson of the exhibition, and Paru Bal Sidhu is the organising secretary. The folk legend of Hir and Ranjha were versified by the celebrated Qissakar of Punjab,Warish Shah in 1766. Hir Waris serves as a bridge to unite Punjabis across the borders and boundaries of every shade and variety.
