Exclusive: Formula One Declined Grand Prix in Chicago

Formula One auto racing gave the red light to the organizer of a Grand Prix in Chicago because it didn’t offer to pay as much as other race hosts according to the former boss of the series Bernie Ecclestone. However, his plan has yet to get off the grid as Liberty has failed to sign a new Grand Prix since it took the wheel of F1 in January 2017. Grand Prix organizers generally don’t receive a cut of the income from broadcasting, official on-site corporate hospitality or even advertising at the venue. The Grand Prix of America was given the final red light and Hindery re-paid the $10 million loan. Since then plans for a Grand Prix in Las Vegas have revved up.
