(Photo by Pattanapong Hirunard)Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha confirms his government will raise excise taxes to increase tax-based revenue by at least one-third. Without a tax change, the government doubted how it could raise income for the public interest, Gen Prayut said on Tuesday. The Council of State was studying amendments to excise taxation, he said. In the 2015 fiscal year the government collected 2.28 trillion baht from taxation and it included 439.09 billion baht from excise tax.
