(ANSA) – ROME, September 12 – Pope Francis said Monday in an audience of entrepreneurs attending a conference of the Italian industrial association Confindustria that excessive income inequality is causing problems at the heart of society. “If the gap between the highest and lowest salaries gets too big, the business world will get sick, and soon society will get sick,” said the Argentinian pope. Francis called on business leaders to give jobs to young people. “Young people need your beliefs and you need young people because without young people a business lacks innovation, energy and enthusiasm.”He also called on the business community to try to ensure that women do not lose their jobs when they become pregnant (ANSA).
