Examining the case of Patty Hearst 50 years later

LA Times staff writer Chris Goffard joined Lisa McRee on "LA Times Today" to talk about the enduring mystery surrounding Patricia Hearst. Hearst, the granddaughter of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, was living with her fiancé in Berkeley, California when members of the Symbionese Liberation Army abducted her. Hearst and her fellow “urban guerillas“ robbed the Hibernia Bank in San Francisco in the spring of 1974. It becomes one of the most iconic images of the 20th century, this image of Patty Hearst, the kidnapped heiress now wielding a machine gun on behalf of the Symbionese Liberation Army,” Goffard said. Watch "LA Times Today" at 8 and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday on Spectrum News 1 and the Spectrum News app.
