A former soldier who was shot dead at a checkpoint in Quezon City last week was given a hero’s burial on Sunday. Ragos’ wife was unable to attend the burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Tauig City on Sunday because of the Covid-19 lockdown. On Tuesday last week, Ragos was shot dead by Master Sgt. Daniel Florendo Jr. who was manning a checkpoint at Barangay Pasong Putik in Quezon City. Florendo claimed “self-defense” but is facing homicide charges, which the Quezon City Police District has filed.
