Ex-hubby asked to pay up in newspaper ad

Consultant Jenny Ng Pui-ying, who openly criticized the government during the free-to-air TV license debacle, has demanded her ex-husband settle legal fees amounting to HK$1.5 million. In an advertisement in The Standard on Monday, Ng, 50, the former head of the Hong Kong office of Spectrum Strategy Consultants, demanded Mark Richard Charlton Sutherland pay her HK$1.48 million in court fees. Family court judge Tse Ching Adriana Noelle ordered Sutherland to pay Ng HK$1.4 million on June 25 in legal costs. Johnson Lam Man-hon and Bebe Chu Pui-ying ordered Sutherland to pay Ng a further HK$77,465 on January 5, 2018, after he lost the appeal. Ng was sacked by her consultancy company after speaking out about the government's controversial decision on free-to-air TV licences in 2013, for which the company compiled a report on free-to-air television licenses for the government.
