The CBI has said it would also probe the role of the mining ministers during this period. Former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav held charge of the mining ministry from March 2012 to July 2013 while Gayatri Prajapati had the ministry between 2013 and 2016. This is the second round of raids by the CBI in this case. The CBI also raided the residences of some mining department officials and red sand mining lease holders. The court also ordered the CBI inquiry in the case on July 28, 2016.
