A powerful and sometimes controversial figure during the entire reign of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Marwa wielded real power and influence in security circles. Having served as Mombasa County Commissioner for six years, Uhuru promoted Marwa to the position of Coast regional security coordinator in 2016 soon after the hot-tempered Malindi by-election. For the two years he served as Coast RC, Marwa rubbed shoulders with the high and the mighty in the society. The highlight of his checkered reign as security chief in the region was his never-ending battles with the then Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho. And just like that, the man who once wielded real power and who had the ear of the Head of State, went home.
