The authorities suspended the elections at the hall for hours and relieved Sabnam of her duties as acting provost after students discovered sacks of marked ballots before the polls opened, sparking protests. The university’s syndicate decided to suspend Sabnam in a meeting on Thursday night, Pro-Vice Chancellor Abdus Samad told bdnews24.com on Friday. A five-strong committee has been formed for further investigation into the allegations of irregularities against Sabnam, the pro-VC said. The protesters postponed demonstrations when the authorities assured them of taking steps over the allegations.
