KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) was appointed Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) chairman due to his wide experience in safety and security, the Finance Ministry said. In a written reply in Parliamentary, the Ministry said the former Inspector-General of Police's experience in the force could help in strengthening safety and security in public transportation. “His extensive experience will bolster security and safety aspects in the public transportation service provided by Prasarana,” the Ministry said in a reply to Siti Mariah Mahmud (PAS-Kota Raja), who had asked the Ministry to state Khalid’s qualification and experience in the public transportation field. “His appointment as Prasarana chairman is based on his wisdom, experience and capabilities as a leader that was proven based on his service in the police force since 1976,” the Ministry said. Khalid was appointed Prasarana chairman shortly after retiring at the age of 60 on Sept 6.
