Former Embakasi East MP aspirant Francis Mureithi has been charged with fraud of Sh320 million in a military tender scam. He is accused that with intent to defraud, he obtained Sh320 million by pretending that DOC company had contracts with the Ministry of Defence to supply foodstuff with a department of defence, a sugar distribution agreement with Mumias Sugar, among other contacts. He allegedly committed the offence between April 26 and November 3, 2016 in the country. Through his lawyers led by Dancun Okach, he pleaded for lenient bond terms. He has been ordered released on a cash bail of Sh5 million or a bond of Sh10 million.
