Cody Hodgson was going to be a great Canuck, we all thought. (GM Mike Gillis lamented after the trade that he spent more time on Hodgson’s situation than on any other player.) He skated in one season for the Predators, but continued to struggle, his defensive game being highlighted as especially problematic. A year ago, Hodgson revealed to Sportsnet he was diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia, caused by a genetic mutation of the RYR-1 gene. Now, he’s partnered with the RYR-1 Foundation and created a documentary about the disorder, and says he’s looking to raise awareness about it.
