He served in the army for six years OFFBEAT SAFARISA former British cavalry officer has been shot dead in Kenya by heavily armed cattle herders behind a spate of farm invasions. Tristan Voorspuy, a well-known safari guide, was riding across his 24,000-acre Sosian ranch, on the Laikipia plateau, when he was attacked by nomads yesterday. He had been trying to inspect the damage to one of three houses on the ranch that had been burnt in an arson attack. The region near Mount Kenya is popular with Prince William and hosts a British garrison. The soldiers use neighbouring ranches for hot weather training before deployments to countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
