Dhaka TribuneBoth the convicts are on the runThe International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), on Monday, sentenced two people to death for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. The three-member bench of the tribunal, led by Judge Md Shahinur Islam, passed the order in the absence of the accused, on Monday, reports UNB. The two convicted are Liakat Ali, former president of Habiganj's Lakhai upazila Awami League unit; and Aminul Islam alias Rajab Ali of Kishoreganj district. According to reports, Liakat Ali was president of the Lakhai upazila unit Awami League of Habiganj from 2003 to 2013. Later on May 18, 2016, the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against the duo and they went into hiding.
