The 40-year-old, who was formerly attached to Atletico Madrid’s sports coordination-methodology department, described it as a homecoming as he was Kedah assistant head coach with Kedah in 2015. Marcote said the Kedah football team has improved vastly since the last time he was in Alor Star, and he hopes to continue the momentum in the coming season. He said as head coach, Marcote is given free rein to mould the team and choose the players. “We are also looking for three import players to further strengthen the team and Marcote has the power to choose the players,” he said. Bashah said the team has so far retained 21 local players and two import players, with three new additional slots for import players being finalised.
