The Feilding farmer who was acquitted of Scott Guy's murder is well into getting on with life and has fallen in love. Ewen Macdonald is no longer being monitored electronically following the expiration of his parole conditions for other offences against the Guy family, and is free to travel to the North Island. Ewen Macdonald is living in Christchurch and planning to move in with his girlfriend. Ewen Macdonald's ex-wife Anna Guy – Scott Guy's sister – said she had not been officially informed that his parole conditions had ended but was aware he was now free to visit the North Island.
