The arrests were made after two young men were seen walking side by side down what appeared to be an aisle in a clip that has gone viral. It also shows the couple being sprayed with confetti at an outdoor festival in the holy city. It is believed police were alerted to what was going on by a man who saw the scene and they then arrested everyone involved. In a statement shared on Twitter, and translated from Arabic to English, Mecca Police said: "The man said people attending the event were surprised when a few young men entered the place and tried to perform a 'gay wedding scene'.
