In order to pressure the Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigade to reduce the cost of living, opposition leader Raila Odinga announced the return of large-scale demonstrations. According to Raila and the Azimio team, the Kenya Kwanza administration is enacting the Finance Bill 2023 to impose significant taxes. The government has announced severe measures against the Azimio leaders through the interior security cabinet secretary, Kindiki Kithure. Kindiki Kithure stated during his address that all individuals responsible for organising and planning the protests will be detained quickly. Kindiki stated that even the protesters' financial backers would face consequences.
