(CNN) Drinking one or two glasses of alcohol a day may increase the chances of having a stroke, according to a new genetic study published Thursday. The study comes after research published last year concluded there is no healthy level of drinking. In the new study, researchers found that one to two drinks a day increased stroke risk by 10% to 15% and that four drinks a day increased the risk of having a stroke by 35%. "There are no protective effects of moderate alcohol intake against stroke. Even moderate alcohol consumption increases the chances of having a stroke," said study co-author Zhengming Chen from the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford in a press release.
