The letter identifies 25 Brabourne Road buildings that need structural repairs before the tunnels can be extended under them. Category A includes nine buildings "in very poor condition" for which the KMRC has recommended: "Evacuation/demolition may be required. Civic officials said the East West Metro project, already delayed by years because of land disputes, now faced further uncertainty. Metro engineers have offered to provide structural support to the buildings, for which they would need access to them. After that, they will have to remain stationary on the riverbank till the question of evacuation is resolved.
