Some African countries have emerging middle classes, which may become consumers of European goods. More than 16 percent of imports by African nations hail from China — while Britain’s share is a mere 3 percent. So far, China has invested $130 billion in Africa in the form of aid, state-sponsored investments and FDI. This has a lot to do with feeding the young and growing population on the African continent, but is also about food security for China.
