OPINION: As European officials criss-cross the globe in a search to secure natural gas to replace Russian supplies, many are pinning hopes on a North African region with an abundance of untapped gas resources. Algeria, Libya and Egypt have long been key sources of liquefied and piped natural gas for their gas guzzling northern neighbours, although the volumes available for export have dwindled recently as domestic consumption surges.
