In one sweeping crescendo of a high-intensity updated version of Tiki-Taka (which includes precise long balls), Spain blew Turkey and its numerous critics apart. This was inarguably the most dominant performance by a team in the tournament so far which showed the gulf that existed between Spain and their opponents. While Turkey are far from the best team Spain will face in this tournament, and more illustrious opponents await them, this performance will be a reminder to opponents of what Spain can do once they’re on song. Nolito, who worked tirelessly on the left flank and is a late bloomer also deserves applause for a fine performance.
