Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Undeterred by war with neighbouring Eritrea, Ethiopians voted on Sunday in the second parliamentary and regional elections to be held in the troubled country. The election was overshadowed, however, by the resumption of fighting two days ago in the border war between Ethiopia and Eritrea. "The Eritrean army sustained heavy material and human losses ... thousands of soldiers have been killed and wounded and many others captured." In the capital, Addis Ababa, voter turnout was sluggish. At the gates of a local administration centre near the bustling Merkado market in Addis Ababa, five policemen checked identity cards of people as they entered to cast ballots.
