The renowned writer said that, “tribal nationalism, hate and prejudice are widespread; animosity and suspicion toward ‘the other’ [are] commonplace”. Peebles noted in his article that in Ethiopia, this vile and fear based stands or positions appear to “have become government policy”. Today the ENDF has been deployed extensively in the Amhara Region to disarm the people in general and the ASF in particular. However, Peebles said at length that the intervention from western governments does not offer hope of peace and social harmony.
