Calls up on African airlines to collaborate to withstand the stiff competitionAfrica’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines, is going to establish a second regional hub in West Africa, Ghana. Following the demise of Ghana Airways and Ghana International Airlines, the West African economic powerhouse does not have a national airline. Ethiopian Airlines, Air Mauritius and indigenous carrier Africa World Air presented their expression of interest to the Ghanaian Ministry of Transport. Investment firms from other West African countries may invest in the new venture. In 2005 Ethiopian Airlines tried to establish a hub in Accra by investing in the defunct Ghana International Airlines.
