Ethiopian ship dock in Eritrean port after two decades


An Ethiopian commercial ship on Wednesday docked at the Eritrean port of Massawa for the first time in two decades.The Ethiopian vessel named “Mekelle”with 166 meters length and 27 height, will be heading to China carrying 11,000 tonnes of Zinc from Eritrea. The docking followed by the visit of Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed to the port of Assab and Massawa of Eritrea. The Prime Minister also visited the 71km-road which stretches from Ethiopian border to the Asab port. Ethiopia and Eritrea signed a peace deal last July, ending one of Africa’s longest wars. According to the premier, his visit aims at making the peace deal successful ahead of the upcoming Ethiopia New Year.
